Holiday in Devon

On the edge of Exmoor and near North Devon's premiere town, Barnstaple, Hartpiece Farm is the ideal "home from home" for two to twenty four guests.

North Devon

North Devon is one of the most unspoilt parts of England, with its own National Park, the wilds of Exmoor, the beautiful Arlington Court, the famous garden site of Rosemoor and the unique and extensive series of seaside villages.

The region offers unspoilt moors, seaside dunes and country landscapes. Barnstaple is a bustling, market town with vibrant theatres, fairs and clotted-cream teas. Hartpiece Farm is also rich in biodiversity with red deer, badgers, hawks, buzzards, owls and rare-breed sheep -- a great base for a holiday, whether active or relaxed.

Good food is celebrated in North Devon. Pubs and restaurants serve authentic local game, seafood and home-produced specialties.

Devon weather is remarkably clement ~ and never boring. With its southern exposure, Hartpiece Farm is a sun-trap -- even dark December days are often warm enough to sit outdoors, if cloudy, listening to the rhythm of the rain on plate glass from the comfort of the hot tub is one of life's special pleasures.

The cream of Devon's beaches, gardens, golf courses, and restaurants are easily accessible from Hartpiece. However you may never want to go out when everything for a lovely holiday has been provided.

Exploring Devon from Hartpiece

Hartpiece Farm and Cottage are set in a prime location for visiting a huge array of attractions.

Saunton Sands is one of nine nearby golf courses offering temporary membership. Wollacombe and Croyde have surfing schools. You can sea-fish in Appledore or pony-trek in Exmoor. Or cycle the Tarka Trail or climb Hartland Point. There are wonderful walks from the door, or across 700 miles of Exmoor. Braunton Burrows is a Biosphere Reserve. Arlington Court, Marwood Gardens and RHS Rosemoor are nearby.

Other local attractions include trout fishing streams, a Roman fort and riding facilities.

Historically, Lorna Doone's legend lives on in Exmoor. Covelly is an ancient fishing village. There are Victorian sea bathing pools in Ilfracombe. And Sir Francis Chichester is buried in the local churchyard in Shirwell.

Hartpiece is secluded, with its own half mile driveway, so peace and privacy are wonderful features of the holiday. It is a haven of peace and tranquillity.

The site is within two miles of the unspoilt 14th century market town of Barnstaple. It is within ten miles of Exmoor, Clovelly, Arlington Court (National Trust), Combe Martin, Braunton, the seaside resort of Ilfracombe, the surfers paradise of Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, Dartington Crystal, Exmoor Stream Railway.
